Salud Borincana is dedicated to providing compassionate health care to underserved communities, especially during times of crisis caused by natural disasters and other emergencies.

Cody Sommers
Chief Technology Officer
Cody has spent fifteen years in IT and security and is currently a cloud architect on U.S. defense programs. Before that he built HIPAA and HITRUST compliant cloud infrastructure for private healthcare at ClearDATA and did cleared work for the Department of Energy. He is the president of Foxxflow, an engineering and consulting company in Cibolo, Texas. For Salud Borincana he builds the systems behind the mission: this site, the tools that will coordinate physicians and supplies, and the record of where care reaches.

Founder and Chief Executive Officer
Enrique graduated with his B.S. in Biochemistry with Highest Honors from The University of Texas at Austin. He spent multiple years in organic chemistry and molecular biology research, which resulted in tremendous personal growth as well as a co-authorship. He has dedicated himself to serving his community through science outreach for Latino youth, teaching chess to children, and volunteering at local community hospitals. Among his most meaningful experiences has been coaching a boys' fútbol team, where he has had the privilege of watching his players grow both on and off the pitch over the past seven years. Outside of medicine, Enrique enjoys scuba diving and sailing and is an active member of The University of Texas at Austin Sailing Team.
Having grown up in multiple underserved communities and experienced the challenges that being uninsured brings, Enrique was inspired to make a difference when founding Salud Borincana. He is applying to medical school to achieve his dream of caring for underserved communities, such as the ones he grew up in. Enrique is a proud Puerto Rican jíbaro who has never forgotten the communities that have shaped and raised him. To Enrique, Salud Borincana is more than a nonprofit organization; it is a deeply personal promise to mend the hardship and remove the barriers to care that he, his community, and countless others have endured.
